The Effects of Art on Children
Art has been a creative form of expression for almost as long as there have been humans on Earth. Art represents a perspective of the human soul that can't be explained with words. Though art education is a school subject, its importance is rarely recognized.

Demonstrates Different Perspectives
•Art allows kids to see another person's perspective.
•Provides an Outlet for Expression
•Kids are young and creative and haven't yet had the hand of reason thrust upon them. Their art work is pure and untouched, making every piece an original. Art can be a strong creative outlet for kids.

Improves Cognitive Abilities
Many researchers claim that art promotes abstract thinking, problem- solving skills and fine motor development. This focus improves overall cognitive abilities and makes school success easier for students. It can also improve social skills if students work together on an art project. Team work and collaboration are important life skills.

Builds Self Confidence
Art can positively affect a child by helping them build self-confidence. Art isn't a place for competition; it's a place for creativity. Children can relax and enjoy what they do in art class. It enables kids to use their intuitive nature to bring out emotions before transmitting them to a visual form. It's hard to feel bad about your art work. It's free of judgement and criticism. Every student leaves feeling re-energized and better about themselves.

Contemporary Modern and Hip Hop Dance

Contemporary Modern and Hip Hop Dance provide fundamental concepts, knowledge, techniques and skills of dance. Dance can enrich the lives of the students through better physical fitness and endurance.

The focus of our dance class is to train students to:
•Instruction in dance requires basic warm-up activities to help reduce the possibility of injury.
• Dance teachers assist students in learning specific techniques required to improve the students' dance skills. This can include skills such as leg and arm extensions and positions, toe pointing, spinning, jumping and proper foot movements.
•Once techniques have been learned, a dance teacher instructs students on different dance styles to allow students to showcase their abilities and combine the techniques to create complete dance routines. Most students will perform these routines in front of an audience to showcase their skills.

•Build confidence
•Improved physical endurance
•Improved focus and awareness
•Increased flexibility
•Acquired appreciation for contemporary modern and hip hop dance
•Develop self-expression of ideas and skills through contemporary modern and hip hop dance

Goals

•Increased community contemporary modern and hip hop dance performance
•Positive improvement in academic performance
•Improved physical health
•Positive attitude and good personal interactivity

•Advance training choreographing a dance routine

The top 4 health benefits of dance:

1. Flexibility Flexibility is an important part of being healthy. Dance requires a great amount of flexibility. Most dance classes begin with a warm-up including several stretching exercises. Most forms of dance require dancers to perform moves that require bending and stretching, so dancers naturally become more flexible by simply dancing.

2. Strength Strength is defined as the ability of a muscle to exert a force against resistance. Dancing builds strength by forcing the muscles to resist against a dancer's own body weight. Many styles of dance, including jazz and ballet, require jumping and leaping high into the air. Jumping and leaping require tremendous strength of the leg muscles.

3. Endurance Dance is physical exercise. Exercise increases endurance. Endurance is the ability of muscles to work hard for increasingly longer periods of time without fatigue. Regular dancing is great for improving endurance, especially vigorous dancing. Elevating the heart rate can increase stamina. Just as in any form of exercise, regular dancing will build endurance.

4. Sense of Well-Being Dancing is a social activity. Studies have shown that strong social ties and socializing with friends contribute to high self-esteem and a positive outlook. Dancing provides many opportunities to meet other people. Joining a dance class can increase self-confidence and build social skills. Because physical activity reduces stress and tension, regular dancing gives an overall sense of well-being.

Theater & Drama

Our drama education program encourages members ages 6 to 18 to engage in hands-on activities.

Drama Education
Builds Self-confidence
Sparks Creativity
Boosts Academic Achievement
Improved Social Skills
Promotes Leadership Qualities

Theatre and drama are becoming increasingly popular. Kids who participate benefit through increased confidence, improved social skills, and exposure to leadership opportunities.
Drama is a shared art form with many different roles beyond that of the actors.
Kids can also participate as set managers, producers, directors, or set designers.
These skills directly translate into a variety of useful qualities such as resource management, which may have a
direct effect on other academic abilities they may use later in life.
Students, who decide to pursue a career in drama and theatre, find themselves as performers in stage, video,
and film, or as teachers.
